enhertu - 3 cycles

oh hi, I haven’t really updated lately. I’ve gotten through 3 cycles of Enhertu and my first set of progress scans. So, how’s it going?

Meh. I am always going to be honest here. It’s a juggle of holding out hope and positive thinking while carrying the hard facts and truth.

In the words of my oncologist - we’re cautiously optimistic. He explained that essentially, nothing has worked to control this cancer until now. Things appear to be stable. There are two questionable spots, my rib and tailbone, that we’re not sure if they are new or were there before I started treatment. I had about 5 weeks from initial finding the bone mets to getting treatment so things definitely could have popped up in between.

My ortho oncologist is pleased with my decreased pain, increased range of motion, and stability he sees within the scans. He released me for light activity and to resume walking! My tailbone is honestly bothering me the most, but I’m still much more stable and more active than I have been in months!

How am I handling Enhertu? Compared to the horror stories of unrelenting nausea, I’m doing fairly well. The first week is the hardest. The nausea isn’t intense just enough to hang in the air and make me feel yucky. The fatigue and lack of my ability to concentrate also throws a wrench in plans to be productive. I’m still juggling work but not at my best that week of treatment so I’m working hard during the other weeks when I am at my best to ensure everything is getting done.

I am also incredibly lucky to have the energy and capability to get some bucket list trips in while I’m feeling good! More on that soon!

Whats next? More scans! We’re sticking with a 6-week cycle so next week (4/10), I’ll have CT and Bone Scans to ensure everything is still stable and there are no new spots.
